What's for dinner this week?!

I've been slacking on the menu planning because I hate doing it. I don't know why. It certainly makes life easier. But our sale flyer doesn't come out until Wednesday morning and if I want to plan based on what is on sale I have to plan early. I guess there are some solutions around this problem but I haven't done that either. So anyways, I found a new site today and I love it! All of our dinner is coming from her website today. So here we go!

Monday- Hawaiian Pita Pizzas Recipe
Tuesday- Thai Chicken Quesadillas Recipe

Wednesday- Chicken, Spinach & Almond Pasta Bake
Thursday- Leftovers
Friday- Green Chili Chicken & Lime Soup
Saturday- Stuffed Artichokes

Sunday- something easy....

Double Coupons at Farm Fresh

Farm Fresh is doing $1 double coupons Sunday through Tuesday! Take advantage of the Dairy Month deal. $5 off when you buy 5 participating items. I bought 2 Danimals, 2 DanActive, and 1 Activia. I used coupons on all of it so they were all free plus I got $5 to use on another purchase. I fully intend to do that again today! I think I have at least two more sets that I can do that with. I also plan to get the 4-pack of Starbucks for $2.99 after coupons. Hubby drank all of MY coffee this week. :( Here are the coupon matchups from Lori at The Coupon Consultant

Good Evening, thanks for sticking around! Changes coming. LONG!

Good evening! It has been too long since I have worked on my blog and for that I apologize. Things in our house were a little rough the last couple of weeks. While I tried to get at least something up at least once a week it was not like it used to be. Somethings are starting to work out and we have solved some problems (which I will address) and I finally am feeling right again. I have a couple things I want to address, so I'm just going to start.

My Life:
The last few months I have felt, off. It is hard to describe, just not me. Tired, exhausted (physically and mentally), confused, stressed, and uninterested in the things I used to enjoy. I was in coupon burnout. When something consumes so much of your life, I guess it is easy to burnout. I still clipped my coupons, but I had no interest in trying to get in on every deal and savings. Since, I didn't want to coupon much, I tried to find other things to do. I picked up a new hobby and I am loving it. It is part of what is making me feel good again! I'll write more about it in another post. Here is a peak at what I love doing these days!

Home Life:
Blue Eyes started physical therapy once a week. He is doing fantastic! My stress level about his physical development has been greatly reduced! Wanna see him "work" at PT?
About 2 weeks ago he broke out in this awful rash that covered a good portion of his lower body. My Facebook friends and family all had ideas but were stumped and confused. Of course my kids get sick on weekends, so the hospital it was. I ended up taking him to the ER to get it checked out. Once I pulled into the parking lot it was gone! Mysteriously gone! I already knew that they were going to think I was the crazy mom, luckily we got a doctor who listened to me and looked at the photos I took of him. (Gotta love my iPhone!) Turns out he had a viral rash. (This photos is hours after it's worse, I cannot post the worst pictures since he's all nakie. lol)
The doc also wanted to do a chest x-ray since I mentioned he had had an on and off fever the last few weeks. (I should also throw in that he was at his regular pediatrician just a few days earlier. It was a bad appointment and I left so frustrated and upset. I cried in the truck on the way home. Needless to say we are looking for another doctor.) They strapped my baby in this awful contraption to do some x-rays. I didn't think much would turn up on that. But I was wrong, I'm a mom not a doctor. Turns out my little dude had pneumonia! I'm so glad I followed my mommy gut and took him in. They caught it in the early stage and he was sent home with some medicine. So now we got that kid straight.
Mr. Destructo has a whole different set of things going on with him. He has been so out of control lately. He has some pretty intense tantrums. Not just the typical toddler tantrum. Throwing, hitting, kicking, crying, screaming, violent, destructive tantrums. If he got mad or something didn't go his way, watch out! He would run around and swipe everything off the counters, desk or table. Then run off and throw his toy box, then push his brother down and probably hit him. Then he'd tip over some chairs and throw things across the room. Here is a photo of what my living room looked like one time after one of his tantrums. Notice the cushions thrown about, the coupon piled everywhere, the laundry basket dumped, the toy box emptied and some other mess.
It really was very scary at times. There were some days I would put Blue Eyes on the other side of the gate to protect him. All of this would start up in a split second and be over in just a few minutes (although at the times it feels like forever). There was no talking him down or stopping him. I googled some things and came across a few articles about Red Dye 40 sensitivity. They described my Mr. Destructo perfectly! The only way to know for sure was to eliminate Red Dye 40 completely. That very next morning we started a Red Dye free diet. I saw changes with in just a few days! I was convinced! It was great! My husband was still skeptical though. It wasn't until the day of that awful pediatrician appointment, did he believe me. That day was about a week since he had any red dye. He got ahold of some candy that morning. At the doctors office he was awful! He kicked the trashcan over, threw some chairs, cried and screamed. Luckily we were in the exam room and nobody saw it, but the looks I got from the nurses, I knew they had heard it all. When I asked his doctor about it, she pretty much blew me off. Well my own eyes don't lie! I have seen what Red Dye 40 does to my child and nobody will tell me that it's in MY head! My husband has now seen what happens and these days if Mr. Destructo gets the slightest bit of red dye in him he goes crazy. Way worse than ever before! But now that we have gotten him under control things are going much better! That was also a component to why I was not feeling right. Now that I am not physically exhausted from my child, I have the energy to do some of the things I love. I don't feel as drained any more. I finally have my happy, excited, smart, curious, talkative, loving, Toy Story addicted 2 year old back!

Blog life:
When I first started this blog, I wanted to post every single coupon deal out there. If it saved money, I wanted to blog about it. Well that's not reality. There are so many things out there that one can't possibly write about them all. At least this mom can't. My blog is a hobby, not a job. I do this because I enjoy saving money and these days it's very important. I used to stress out about having to post a deal before someone else did. I spent way to much time at my computer scouring the web, that I was missing out on my kids. I felt like I needed to post 3 or 4 things a day, every day. Well that was not a realistic goal. So I've been doing so reevaluating on what I want to do. I still want to bring you some deals, but only the ones I am excited to share with you! I still will post the links when The Coupon Consultant puts up her Farm Fresh matchups, and I still will post the Sunday Coupon Preview links. I hope that you will continue to read my blog, just know that I'm probably not the first person to blog about it!

I hope that everyone is having a great spring, even though here it feels like summer! I'm excited to work more on my new hobby and I hope to share that with you soon too! That will have to wait another day. My husband and I built our own fence today and we are proud but tired.

I welcome any comments. I hope you all understand that some things are just way they are and right now I'm content with where things are going in life! Have a great weekend! I'm going to go enjoy my husband's vacation time for the next 5 days!!!

Chick-fil-a Spicy VIP and our experience

You may have heard of the special promotion Chick-fil-a was doing with their soon to be released Spicy Chicken Sandwich. A few weeks ago we signed up and reserved our Spicy Chicken Sandwiches for today.

When we got to the parking lot it was packed! There were only two parking spots left and the drive through was long. We saw 2 girls with notepads and a menu in their hands and they were going car to car taking orders. They then gave the driver this piece of paper. When they drove up they handed the paper to another girl with a special portable computer thing and she was putting in the orders right there. I was amazed how fast the line in the drive through was moving. We probably saw at least 4 people give their orders before we even got from the car to the door. I was impressed.

The line indoors wasn't any shorter. They had all of their registers open, about 3 or 4 of them. All of them had at least 4 people in line and many tables were taken. We were a little anxious with all the people in line that it would take too long. Especially since neither kid was in a stroller. But to my surprise the line was moving and there were no problems. The cashiers all seemed to know what they were doing and none of them seemed flustered by the amount of people. I handed over our VIP reservation papers and ordered some other food and it was ready in minutes. Since I had Blue Eyes in my hands, the cashier called over to the "VIP attendant" to help me carry our rather full tray and drinks.

We were seated in a special section, separate from the "normal" people. The tables were covered in table cloths, there were fancy menu books on the table (just like you would see in a sit down restaurant) and there was a vase filled with fresh cut flowers. We were often asked by the "VIP attendant" if we needed anything. She was very friendly and refilled drinks and cleared the tables. She even chased us down in the parking lot when Mr. Destructo left his airplane on the table.

The new Spicy Chicken Sandwich was really good! I don't usually eat much meat, just the occasional chicken. But this was actually pretty good! It was tender enough that I was able to cut it up into small pieces with a plastic butter knife but not mushy. It was juicy inside and the breading was crispy! It does have some kick to it and occasionally we would bite into an especially spicy part. My husband said if it had some ranch dressing or some blue cheese dressing on it it would be perfect! I think they have a ranch dipping sauce, next time we will ask for some of that to go on top. Everyone in our house approved of the new sandwich! I'm excited to get this again once it is part of it's regular menu on June 7th!

I just want to send a special thanks out to the Chesapeake Square Chick-fil-a for such a great experience!

Disclaimer: I reserved a special VIP sandwich through the Chik-fil-a website. I was not compensated for the review, nor was I asked to write one. All opinions are mine. I just wanted to let you know about our experience and the new sandwich.
