Dropper Stopper Review and Giveaway!

Now that I am back I have the coolest product to let you in on! It is called the "Dropper Stopper"!
The dropper stopper is an accessory that no parent should live without! With its patented design, this unique product attaches to strollers, highchairs, baby carriers, etc. while securing your little one’s cups, toys, blankets and much more! The dropper stopper is available in fun, trendy fabrics and coordinating snaps. This eye-catching accessory is not only a welcome addition to today’s’ stylish strollers and fashionable diaper bags, but it’s also the perfect gift! - Dropper Stopper Facebook Fan page
I received one for my kids to try out and I received one to giveaway to one of my coolest fans who have stuck by me!
I got this in the mail and I have used dozens of times! We took it trick or treating, we use it at the mall, we use it at the grocery store, we use it at dinner time! Oh fantastic product! We've attached it to the stroller, the shopping cart, the high chairs and to mom. Since using it the sippy cups stopped ending up in the petting zoo cage! (yes that has happened to us) Also, no more binkys on the gross nasty Wal-mart floor! Ick!

It's really easy to use. It has multiple snaps so that it can attach to items of any size. All the way from little loops on pacifiers to the tops of sippy cups. No problems! Seems very sturdy and well designed. No flaws yet. You can get your own Dropper Stopper for $12! Would the penny pincher in me pay $12? YEP!! It's worth not having to hear an infant crying for his paci or a toddler throwing a fit for his "miillllll". (Milk, for those that don't speak toddler talk.) It's really easy to order. Go to www.dropperstopper.com and click order. It would make a great stocking stuffer or a perfect baby shower gift!!!

So you wanna win one? I have one to give to you!!!! 8 ways to win!

A note of where I've been

So I've been absent lately. Where have I been? What have I been doing? Can I just first say that stressed is not even a good word for what I am these days?
First week of November
Well first of all we closed on our new house! YAY! After we closed on our house, we went to check it out again. That is when we found the floor wet. The roof had leaked! YAY! We just bought a house with a leaky roof. No worries, the seller was going to fix it! Then that night my husband deployed out to sea for about 2 weeks. I was busy painting and keeping an eye on some repair people. The first team out to fix the roof failed. We found out the next day when it rained. Then we saw the weather report. Nor'easter heading our way! 3 straight days of heavy non stop rain expected. Oh great....
Second week of November
So finally another set of guys comes out. The rain was forecasted to start that night. The guys work on it for about an hour and leave. I'm not taking any chances! I pulled down the shower curtains and made a nice pool under the leak just in case. I cam eback the next morning (in the pourning rain) and NO LEAKS!!! WHOO HOO! My husband came home finally and he loved the paint job that I did! Big accomplishment. This guy thought everything should have been left white (I think he fears color). Big surprise for him when I painted the bottom half of the kitchen a reddish color! He loved it!
Third week of November
After some moving troubles (like U-haul not having a truck for us like we reserved) and a couple weekends we finally got moved in.
Last week of November
Finally moved all in and cleaned up the rental and closed us out of there. That's when I got the great idea to host my son, Brian's, 2nd birthday party in the middle of December!
Then there was Thanksgiving, unpacking, and cleaning... We bought a forclosed house and it was pretty gross inside (mainly bathrooms).
My infant son Nathan had a routine 9 month visit with his pediatrician. That didn't go so well at all. You can read about that here. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers please. So researching that online occupied me for at least a week. I spent all my waking moments reading, reading, reading, and more reading. I stayed up late and woke up early. I had to know everything about everything!
December
Then we had more appointment which you can read about here.
Then my toddler had his party!!!!! YAY!!!! Stress leading up to that, and lots of cleaning and unpacking had to be done. And here we are now. Moved in, one son set up for surgery, another son turning two in two days and a tired and stressed out.

But I am back. And now I really hope to be able to bring you the good deals, the menu plans and whatever else you want to know!

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Stay tuned!

Good Evening Readers!
Just letting you know that I have not forgotten about you! I hope to be back blogging at full speed within the next couple of days! My husband is finally back from his deployment and we moved into our new house this past weekend! We are waiting for Verizon to set up our internet, so for now I'm on a borrrowed wireless signal. I have some great reviewws to share with you, some pictures to show you of our new house and I am just excited to be back online soon! Hang with me for a few more days and I promise I'll be back soon!

Bello is Back! The Big Apple Circus in NY!

Bello is Back! Under the Big Apple Big Top performing breathtaking feats of humor in the theatrical focus of one ring with no seat more than 50 feet away!

It seems like only yesterday that this daredevil clown made his hair-raising New York debut with the Big Apple Circus. He’s been a big star all over the world ever since and was recently named "America's Best Clown" by Time Magazine.

Bello is joined by a world of stellar circus stars:
*From Spain, Picaso Jr. returns with his sizzling style and extraordinary juggling act — puffing into the air up to five ping-pong balls simultaneously, and catching them — with his mouth!

*From Russia, the Aniskin Troupe amaze with their bravura, athletic trampoline act — then soar into the Big Top stratosphere with their spectacular flying trapeze act!

*The Big Apple Circus' own lovely and graceful Regina Dobrovitskaya performs a shimmering spectacle on aerial silk ribbons!

*Equestrians Christine Zerbini and Sultan Kumisbayev present an electrifying riding act — standing atop galloping chargers, Roman–style!

*Luciano Anastasini’s Pound Puppies (all rescued from animal shelters) return for a joyously jumping mélange of human and canine acrobatics!

Of course there’s more and for an extra measure of love and laughter, there’s the Big Apple Circus' very own clown -- Grandma.

You can follow the Big Apple Circus on their Facebook page and on Twitter, too!
For the lastest updates - make sure to check out the Big Apple Circus on Facebook and Twitter, too!

Menu Plan Monday- Spooky Edition

Halloween is this weekend so I thought I would attempt to do a Spooky Menu Plan Monday. I hope my family likes it and has a little fun with it this week. This will probably be the last Menu Plan Monday that I do for a couple of weeks. We are closing on our new house next Monday and then my husband leaves to play Sailor for a little longer than a week. When he is gone we usually just eat simple small meals. I really only make real dinners for him anyways. My toddler is too picky and usually never eats what I make. So this will be it for about two weeks! Wish me luck attempting to move my family. Good thing we aren't moving far!

Monday- Eyeball Taco Salad
Tuesday- Slithering Snakewich
Wednesday- Leftovers
Thursday- Spaghetti Oozing Eyeballs

Friday- Ratloaf (meatloaf)

More meal ideas can be found at Orgjunkie.com

Menu plan monday 10/19

Wow, I'm a little late getting a menu up for today. With two weeks left until moving day, we are still working on clearing things from the cabinets.  I keep looking in one of our food cabinet and it is overflowing. But why can't I find anything to eat? After taking better inventory, I realized its all baking things! Duh! We can't eat bread crumbs and cornstarch for dinner! I can't wait until we move to our new house and finally get a pantry! So here is what I've come up with to eat this week. There is a lot of chicken on our menu this week because we have been without chicken for nearly two weeks now!!!! We ran out and I just never got back to Sam's Club to get another bag. But also I had a ton of beef and pork from when I got it on sale a few weeks back that needed to be eaten. I am making up for the lack of chicken this week! Here is what we are having.

Monday- Chicken, brown rice and peas
Tuesday- Tortellini soup
Wednesday- Pan fried chicken with cheesey potatoes
Thursday- Leftovers
Friday- hodge podge of clearing out the freezer, fridge and cabinets

More menu ideas can be found at Orgjunkie

Carolina Pad Review, coupon and giveaway!

Recently Carolina Pad sent me a set of organizational products to use and write about. I was so excited when they came! It had all sorts of funny goodies in it! Here is what they sent to me and what you can win!
  • 1-subject notebook
  • Ideal book
  • Personal Book
  • 3-ring binder
  • tab dividers
  • file folders
  • 13 pocket expandable folder
  • coupon folder
  • 19 month planner
  • Stick-on notes/flags

I am really excited to have these great things right in the middle of moving!

The planner is helping me to remember what day things are being done in the new house and it is helping me remember all the different appointments my family has, such as which child gets which dose of flu vaccine and when.

The 13 pocket expandable folder is where I am keeping all the important papers. I was keeping them in a file cabinet, but can you imagine 5' me trying to carry a file cabinet out of the car in case we had to evacuate due to a hurricane? Not very pratical. So inside holds our insuance papers, shot records, titles to the vehicles and house, anything else I think is important and an updated picture of my kids. Should anything happen to them, I won't be deprately trying to rip a picture out of the scrapbook I made for them. (Who am I kidding, with 2 kids under 2 there is no completed scrapbook, wishful thinking.)

The 3 ring binder is becoming our Home Manegement Notebook. The purpose of this notebook is basically to be command central. Once my kids get older and busier it will really help to keep us running smoothly. Inside will contain our menu for the week, my cleaning schedule (trying really hard to stay on top of the toddler messes), a monthly calendar, important numbers (Grandma and the insurance guy), the daily routine (in the making) and a few other things.  I am usuing the tab dividers for the different sections.

The coupon folder is great for the average couponer. It doesn't quite work for the person who clips hundreds of coupons a month. My mom clips what she knows she'll use. This would be perfect for her! Instead I am usuing it to put my ideas in. If I see a cute art project to do with the kids, a recipe to try or a room decorating idea, I will put it in my little organizer. Also, since we are moving and decorating it will be used for paint swatches and clippings from magazines.

I use the 1subject notebook to do some brainstorming, the mini notebook to keep at my computer for passwords, and the other small notebook to keep information straight for my blog and to write things down when I am talking on the phone.

I'm loving my Carolina Pad stuff! Would you like to enjoy some really cool stuff too? Carolina Pad has given me a coupon code to share with my readers! Use the code HC_Coupon at checkout and receive a free coupon expandable file folder! What an awesome deal!

Menu Plan Monday 10/5

Oh man! Talk about a week! It has been so crazy here! The next thing I tell you will prove that it has been busy. You ready for this? It has been so busy that:
1. I haven't clipped my coupons from this past week! Shhh don't tell! I usually clip them every Sunday afternoon.
2. I didn't make a menu last week (total household destruction followed, more on that to follow) nor did I go grocery shopping!

Now maybe you are thinking, "well you must be sick or have sick kids." NOPE! Well maybe you are thinking "you had alot of important meetings and evening activites." NOPE! This week we found and signed a contract on our first house! And being that we weren't actively looking to buy a house, we had alot of things to do. So as of now, November 2nd will the next biggest day of our lives!

So what happened when I didn't plan our meals or go grocery shopping? Fast food. We ate out more this week than I would have liked. My goal was to eat some of the random foods in our cabinets and freezer, less in there is less I have to pack up and move. Also the reason I didn't go to the store was because my husbands work shift moved from mornings to overnight. If I'm going to go to the store with the kids, it's best to do in the morning when they are well rested and not cranky. Well Wednesday morning we were signing contracts, not grocery shopping. I figured we had enough food, we would make do. Again, failure. So this week I am making the plan now. I am going ot go to the grocery store tomorrow. No, it isn't double dollar coupon day but we really have nothing to eat. I'm going to get the food for the next two days and on Wednesday I will do the big grocery shopping with my menu. So here is what we are having this week.

Monday- Slow Cooker Beef Bourguignon
Tuesday- Southwestern Soup

Wednesday- Fuss Free Ravioli and Cheese Bake
Thursday- Left overs
Friday- Chicken Wings

Smart Mom Jewelry Review and Giveaway!

Recently I was given the opportunity to review Smart Mom Jewelry. My little monster is literally being a monster these days. He is teething those first teeth and the poor kid is so cranky these days. A cranky baby means a cranky mommy. I was so excited when the Teething Bling came in my mail box last week! Teething Bling is jewelry for mom that is completely safe for the teething child. It is made from the same non-toxic, phthalate, BPA, PVC and lead free material that most teething products are made from. It also includes a special break-away clasp. If your baby pulls with all that super human baby strength, you won't have to worry about it breaking or hurting you!

Go on over to Smart Mom Jewelry and check out their pendant necklaces, bangles, key chains, and gift sets. They are running a special in September! The amethyst jewelry is half off! Only $9.50 for the awesome pendant necklace! That is definitely worth the price. This would make a perfect gift for a new mom.

And to make it better, Smart Mom Jewelry would like to give one of my readers a pendant necklace and 2 bangles of your choice!

Round 2 for today

I went regular grocery shopping at Farm Fresh today. On Wednesday they double $1 coupons. I went in with both kids in tow alone. Not nearly enough room for my toddler, the infant carrier, my coupon binder and the food. But all it takes is a little creativity and physics (I didn't do so well in the class, much better at it in real life!) to stack things under the basket and around the baby, he didn't mind playing with the box of crackers one bit! Since the farm fresh on Bridge road in suffolk VA price matches and accept Harris Teeter coupons, I made like a bandit. Total before my coupons was $55.64. After price matching, subtracting my Harris Teeter $20/$50 coupon and my regular coupons I spent............. $10.02! One of my products has a rebate on it so I will get 3.49 back. So really the total is $6.32. Here is what I got:

Harris Teeter Triples Trip 1 pic

I woke up bright and early this morning to go to Harris Teeter. I was determined I was goin gto be getting some paper towels TODAY! I was so tired of them being sold out. I knew the sale started at 7am and I wanted to check out at 7ish. I had to get back home to my babies before they woke up. (Baby woke daddy up before I got home, oh well I tried) I got there around 6:15am. Anyways, I was the only one in the entire store! No other couponers and no shoppers at all! It was great! They were stocking the shelves and everyone in the store was available to help me! I think I was asked at least a dozen times if I need help and another half dozen times they asked if I was still ok. I felt like when a celebrity gets to shop in a store before the public does.
However that does have it's drawbacks. Since I was the first person to use the triple coupons and other promos, there were some kinks to work out. They have a Green Giant promo going. If you buy 3 boxes you get $1 OYNO (off your next order), 4 boxes you get $2 OYNO, and 5+ boxes get $3 OYNO. I had bought 6 boxes and used 3 .50/2 coupons. Total for the 6 boxes of veggies was $1.50+ $3 back. Since the coupon didn't print the manager just gave me 3 dollars in cash.
On the plus side, I GOT MY PAPER TOWELS! Whew, just in time too. I was almost out! I was checking out around 7:20 just as planned and I finally started seeing the first couple coupon shoppers. I guess there are pros and cons of going early. I'll go early again next time but maybe not until around 7 next time.

Here is the picture of what I got.

3 rolls of Viva paper towels
3 Lysol Toilet Bowl cleaners
4 Mahatma Yellow Rice packs
2 1lb. bags of white rice
6 pouches of muffin mix
2 bags of plastic cups (kids have parties coming up)
2 boxes of Zatarains
1 box of Biter biscuits for Natey
6 boxes of frozen veggies
Total before discounts $71.87
Total amount of coupons used $48.99
Total paid out of pocket $9.03- $3.08 in cash back since the coupon didn't print
$5.95 total!
Works out to be less than .19 an item!

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day to all. Everyone who has the day off of work today, CONGRATS! I know my husband is happy to have the day off.

Happy Labor Day to the stay at home moms too. We might not get a paycheck for our work, but we really have important jobs!

When I first had my first baby, I didn't know how much work it really was to be a mom. When that first child popped out, I should have grown a couple extra arms to go with him. I really could use an extra appendage or two. those first couple of months were rough! I didn't know how to clean, cook, answer a phone, pay a bill and carry the baby all at the same time. By the time he was 5 months old things got better. I got better at multi-tasking and my head was finally on straight. HA! Not for long. Baby #2 was on his way. Oh great! Just when I thought I was good. I should have known when the second baby came a week early and I was only in labor for 2.5 hours that things were going to be hectic. Just going to the store was a job in itself! Trying to keep the toddler from playing with mulch, carrying a 20 pound infant carrier (not including the mini sumo wrestler with thunder thighs strapped inside), a diaper bag, a purse, the sippy cup that the toddler insists on having, the reusable bags, and trying not to be clumsy and trip down the steps was a job in itself.

Moms have a tough job juggling everything we do 24/7. So to you moms, Happy Labor Day! We really do have superpowers. Just not everyone sees them. I'd say take a day off work, but then the world would colapse. HAHA.Maybe not. Have a great day!

Menu Plan Monday 9/7

Menu Plan Monday was really easy for me this week. Maybe this comes with ease now since I've been doing it a couple of weeks now? I find myself thinking throughout the week about what we are going to have instead of Sunday night trying to figure it all out. We have two repeats on our list from last week. They just never got made. One night was a rough day with the kids and I resorted to easy dinner (not sure now what it was) and the other night my husband and I went on a date and ate out. Hopefully this week I'll stick to it a little better. I'm also finding that sometimes I skip around and eat Friday's meal on Tuesday. Does that happen to other people too?

Monday- Hubby's grilling
Tuesday- pot roast w/carrots, potatoes, celery and such
Wednesday- pork chops stuffed with stuffing and coated in bread crumbs (not sure on the recipe just yet)
Thursday- leftovers
Friday- bbq chicken (didn't get cooked last week)
Saturday- Meatloaf (didn't get cooked either)
Sunday- simple meal

How did I get my grocerys and $40 worth of meat for $7?

I just returned from a great shopping trip at Farm Fresh! I didn't expect to walk out with fantastic savings since I really only needed some sausage and some stew beef for dinner this week. I was going to pick up a few little things too since I had coupons making them super cheap.

I saw in the ad this morning that there was a rebate for $20 when you buy $40 worth of meat from Miller/Coors beer company. (No alcohol purchase required) I decided to look ino it but I'm really clueless when it comes to cut of meat. I know stew beef and I know burger. Not to much more. I got some sausage and stew beef and some pork chops. I was already close to $20! In my mind I figured anything I buy after this will be free after the rebate. So, I decided to rack my brain of all the recipes I'd been looking at lately and buy whatever I remember seeing a recipe for. I ended up with $40.60 cents worth. I think it was around 13 pounds of meat.

By this time I had a screaming 6 month old and headed for the check-out. Our lovely cashier, April, was there. My toddler loves her and she is always super friendly. Since the Harris Teeter opened up around the corner, my Farm Fresh price matches and accepts their coupons. I priced match some ears of corn and the Lay's potato chips. Then she rang up the rest of my order. I gave her my coupons including a Harris Teeter $20 off a $50 purchase. My grand total was......

$27.93!!!! Don't forget I get $20 back from a mail in rebate from Miller!

ACTUAL TOTAL WAS $7.93!!

Menu Plan Monday 8/31

Here is what I hope to make this week. Occasionally things change. Last week I was supposed to make spaghetti and meatballs but my husband went fishing that afternoon so it turned into a "fend for yourself" night. It happens. No big deal. I've learned to be flexible.

Monday- Meatloaf and a veggie
Tuesday- Vodoo Pasta
Wednesday- BBQ Chicken
Thursday- Leftovers
Friday- Something with Alfredo sauce? (any ideas?)
Saturday- Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Stew
Sunday- Leftovers

Yes, I know I have left overs on the list twice every week. Two reasons, the first is I always make more than we eat. Not sure why it happens but it does. The second reason is that if I don't have it on the list then we end up with a fridge full of leftovers that never gets eaten. Now if for some odd and strange reason the left overs are actually taken to work by my husband then I will add in an extra meal. That usually never happens. Well, let me know what you are having this week for dinner!

Last weeks trip to Walgreens

Last week I did my first coupon trip to Walgreens. I have been wanting to give it a try but have been nervous about it. Walgreens has great deals because of their "Register Rewards". It's a piece of paper that prints from their register for you to use on a future purchase. For example this week they have Men’s Zone 6 Blade Razor System for $3.99 and you get a "Register Reward" for $3.99 making it free.

So last week I bought:
2 Listerine Agent Cool Blue's on sale 2/$8. (receive $3 RR when you buy one)
1 BOGO coupon
1 Manufacturers coupon for $1.00 off
2 Walgreen's Children's Activity Booklet coupon for $1.00 off
I paid $1.00 for both of them and then recieved $3 in register rewards.

2 Children's Benadryl on sale for 4.99 (recieve $5 RR when you buy 2)
2 Manufacturer coupon for $1 off
2 Walgreen's Children's Activity book coupon for $1 off
Total out of pocket 6.00 and received $5 in register rewards.
Like paying .49 cents a piece

Total for the whole purchase was $7.00 and I received 8 dollars in RR's for next week. Now I can buy things with my register rewards and get more register rewards with those purchases!

Enter to win from Ronzoni

The people at Ronzoni are doing a free food sweepstake. Go here  to enter to win free grocery's for a year!!

My coupon binder

When I first started clipping coupons, I organized them in an accordion file. Turns out that 13 different files was not nearly enough and I spent way to long leafing through a pile of coupons. So I made my own coupon holder and filled it with something like 50 envelopes because I found that breaking it down that much worked much better for me! Well after a few months that wasn't enough either. Finally I had to break down and do the binder that I had heard so much about.

Here is a tour of my coupon binder. I have it broken down a lot. I am usually shopping with my toddler and my infant and don't have the time to stand in the aisle looking thought all of the cleaning coupons. Not to mention the fact that the longer I stand there, the more likely it is that my toddler will attempt to pull something off the shelf. Of course, it will fall and I will be yelling "clean up on aisle 6". And my luck is that he will break something that I don't have a coupon for and will have to pay full price for something I don't even like, such as a fancy jar of anchovies! So speed is essential in our shopping. In order to make things go faster I have all of my categories broken down into sub categories. Read on for more info about that.

So here is the binder I picked up at Wal-mart during a back-to-school sale. I also got a small pair of scissors, dividers, page protectors, and baseball card inserts (up at the front by the poke-mon cards) while I was at it.

In the front pocket I have my large coupons and the coupons that are for $ off $$ coupons ($10/$50).
Here are the categories that I have written down on the page dividers and the sub categories I have written on each base ball card holder.
